The anticipation for Russia keeps on building; it’s so hard
to believe that this is finally the day that we leave.
All the boys, the entire organization, and the fans are so excited for this incredible trip. But, before we make our way overseas we had to educate ourselves about Russia and some of its culture. So, Coach O’Handley divided all of us into six groups. Each group was in charge of one topic that he assigned us.
My group was in charge of educating everyone about Gorky
Park and decided whether we should go there or not. We learned that Gorky Park is a very old park
having been opened in 1928. It is full
of gardens and more traditional sports like aerobics, yoga, and salsa
dancing. There’s also an outdoor movie
theatre and many more interesting sites unique to Russia.
Other groups were assigned to topics such as traditional
foods in Russia, culture, do’s and don’ts, and information about the other
teams in the tournament. Although it is
still going to be a challenge to communicate in Russia, going there and having
some background information can only help make things go more smoothly. I can’t wait to finally land in the plane,
and walk out, and finally be in Russia!!
Saw you at the Aerostar hotel and googled you guys. Good luck in the tournament and enjoy Russia.
